T-Botz Tue – Term 1 2024

Both our classes are 1 hour and run at the same time:

β-Botz (Beta-Botz)

Please Note: Term 1 is a shorter term, so we only have 8 sessions.
Students are grouped into pairs and progress together through the various 10-week lessons:

  • 01 Introduction – Students complete the introductory projects, learning about Milo the Science Rover before progressing on to the first Guided Projects.
  • 02 Guided Projects 1 – Students complete several Guided Projects including building and programming a frog that metamorphs through its various stages.
  • 03 Guided Projects 2 – Students complete several more Guided Projects including building a Luna Rover that moves forward and turns using a single motor.Luna Rover
  • 04 Open Projects 1 – Students complete the last guided projects before progressing to completing Open Projects like the Animal Expression.
  • 05 Open Projects 2 – Students complete more Open Projects like Space Exploration and Cleaning The Ocean.
    • 06 Open Projects 3 – Students complete more Open Projects like Moving Materials and Emotional Design.
    • 07 Open Projects 4 – Students complete the last Open Projects before progressing onto CityCAMP Projects Mine Railway and Pump.
      • 08 Scratch City 1 – Students are introduced to Scratch 3.0 and use it to make robots like the Windmill and Deep Sea Explorer that improve life in a modern city.
      • 09 Scratch City 2 – Students continue to make Scratch 3.0 robots like the Airplane, Helicopter, and Firetruck that improve life in a modern city.
      • 10 Scratch City 3 – Students complete the Scratch 3.0 City projects and start using Scratch to program the Star Projects like the Satelite and Astronomical Model that take us to the stars!
      • 11 Scratch Star 1 – Students complete Scratch 3.0 Star Projects like the Space Battle and Mars Rover to explore how robots take us to the stars.
      • 12 Scratch Star 2 – Students complete more Scratch 3.0 Star Projects like the Space Shuttle, Railgun, and Droid to explore how robots take us to the stars.

ζ-Botz (Zeta-Botz)

Please Note: Term 1 is a shorter term, so we only have 8 sessions.
Our ζ-Botz (Zeta-Botz) class runs at the same time as the Beta-Botz classes. Students are grouped into pairs and progress together through various projects. For Term 3 and Term 4, we are focussing on the MASTERPIECE℠ Challenge. All are welcome!

  • 01 Introduction – The children will learn and master the Scratch 3 programming interface and be introduced to Python as well.
  • 02 Life Hacks – Children create a breakdancer, a personal trainer that counts, a life hack that helps you see the wind, and much more.
  • 03 Cargo Connect℠ Challenge – In 2021 we participated in the FIRST® LEGO® League Cargo Connect℠ Challenge and managed to make the National Championships!
  • 04 Kickstart a Business – Children develop computational thinking skills including decomposing a problem, debugging programs, recognizing patterns, and much more.
  • 05 Training Trackers – Children develop models to help understand the relationship between different types of energy (metabolic, potential, and kinetic).
  • 06 SUPERPOWERED℠ Challenge – In 2022 we participated in the FIRST® LEGO® League SUPERPOWERED℠ Challenge.
  • 07 Python – Playing Games with Simple Conditions – Children use Python to develop different games using simple conditions with builds like a Robotic Hand, Kiki the Dog, and the Table Top Game.
  • 08 Python – Testing for Bugs and Using Functions –  Explore problems in hardware and programming and troubleshoot these issues. Also, create and use functions – Blocks of code in Python that can be reused multiple times in a program.
  • 09 MASTERPIECE℠ Challenge – In 2023 we participated in the FIRST® LEGO® League MASTERPIECE℠ Challenge.
  • 10 SPACE Challenge – Use SPIKE Prime’s advanced moving techniques whilst completing all the Space Challenges.
Please note that children need to bring their own device to program the robots, either a:
Windows laptop with Bluetooth 4.0+ running Windows 10 version 1803+
Mac laptop with Bluetooth 4.0+ running Mojave 10.14+
iPad / iPad mini running iOS 11+
Android Tablet with Bluetooth 4.0+ running Android 7.0+
